UPDATE as of May 7, 2020
The Congregational Council met on Thursday, May 7 to discuss our procedures for moving forward during this strange and uncertain time with COVID-19. The council has decided to be more cautious in starting with in-person worship. This decision was based upon input from medical professionals, personal opinions, information shared with council members by others, and the strong recommendation from the bishop that congregations wait until June to restart worship. With all this information the council voted to change the starting date to Sunday, May 31 at 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. While the governor has allowed congregations to start sooner, the opinion of the Congregational Council is that it would be better to wait a little longer for safety concerns. This timeline also put us into the phase for gatherings about the size of one worship service.
In order to try to minimize the risk of spreading this virus, we will not have Sunday School. There will be some type of Sunday School lesson available for people to pick up and use at home.
A letter will be sent out with more information regarding some guidelines for worship, but some of the basics are:
· Try to maintain the 6 ft. distancing at all times (in terms of seating in the sanctuary—we will be alternating pews and marking pews for different services)
· People are encouraged to wear face masks (a few masks will be available at church)
· While we will have the sharing of the peace in the service, people are encouraged to share it verbally and not shake hands
· There will be hand sanitizer located in the narthex
