Images of God:
A Lenten Journey Through Sacred Objects
Lent invites us to slow down, to look more closely, and to listen more deeply for the ways God meets us in the midst of our lives. Throughout the Scriptures, God is revealed not only through words and ideas, but also through concrete images and ordinary objects—fire and wind, clay and a shepherd’s staff, wings and an anchor, a simple cup. These images give shape to what can otherwise feel abstract, helping us see, touch, and imagine who God is and how God works among us.
This Lenten season, our worship will center on a series called Images of God, exploring how everyday objects become windows into the mystery of God’s presence. Each week, we will focus on a different image drawn from the Bible. These images are not meant to explain God fully, but to invite us into relationship with the living God who meets us in tangible ways. As we move through Lent together, you are encouraged to notice the objects that shape your own faith story and to reflect on where you see God at work—refining, breathing life, guiding, protecting, and sustaining you.
May this journey deepen our trust in the God who comes to us not only in words, but in signs we can see and hold, leading us to the cross and, ultimately, to new life.
